USB over Ethernet v.2.0 - Help |
USB over Ethernet allows you to assign custom names to shared devices. This is required when there are multiple similar USB devices connected to the PC.
For example, you have a red and blue USB flash drives plugged in. In general case they both will appear as a "USB Device - Flash Drive" in a list of local USB devices. It is quite difficult to distinguish which entry corresponds to which device. Custom device naming allows you to easily resolve this problem. Just insert a red flash drive first and rename it to "Red Flash Drive". Then insert a blue flash drive and rename it to "Blue Flash Drive". Now, everytime the red drive is plugged in, it will be shown as a "Red Flash Drive", while blue drive will be named "Blue Flash Drive".
